Knox Trail is introducing the Genius Hour during 5th Grade students' Art classes starting Monday Oct. 26th.
Genius Hour is a project based curriculum that allows students to explore their own passions while encouraging creativity in the classroom. It provides students a choice in their learning during their Art period. Students are challenged to explore a topic, skill or activity and then complete a project that helps them grow in their understanding and proficiency. The teacher provides a set amount of time for the students to work on passion projects. Students spend several weeks researching the topic before they start creating a product that will be shared with the class/school/world. Deadlines are limited and creativity is encouraged.
