The incoming fifth graders summer reading selection is Front Desk by Kelly Yang. Students should complete the attached packet to go along with various chapters in the book.
The novel is available new on Amazon for 7.99, and there are also used copies available as well.

6TH GRADE SUMMER READING
The incoming sixth graders summer reading selection is Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. Please preview the novel on Goodreads using this link:

Students should plan to create chapter summaries, paying attention to the different perspectives of the main characters, Juli and Bryce. Summaries should be no more than 5-7 sentences. Students can find the book online using the following link:
Students can purchase the novel at Amazon new for $6.79, and there are options to buy used as well. The online version is acceptable, of course.

7TH GRADE SUMMER READING
Rising 7th Summer Reading:
Students must read a minimum of two books over the summer, one required and one choice.
Required: The Giver by Lois Lowry--students must complete Readers Notes for each chapter (include characters, setting, and a brief (half-page) summary)
AR testing will return for the 2021-2022 school year, for both books.
Notes are optional for the book of choice.
*suggestion: read The Giver in August, because the first unit of the school year will be based on this book.

Rising 8th Summer Reading:
Students must read a minimum of two books over the summer, one required and one choice.
Required: The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton--students must complete Readers Notes for each chapter (include characters, setting, and a brief (half-page) summary)
AR testing will return for the 2021-2022 school year, for both books.
Notes are optional for the book of choice.
*suggestion: read The Outsiders in August, because the first unit of the school year will be based on this book.
