SPENCER, MA - March 26, 2024 - In accordance with Massachusetts state law, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) contracted with the American Institutes for Research® (AIR®) to conduct a comprehensive review of Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District in October 2023. Data collection activities associated with the review focused on understanding how district systems, structures, and practices operate in support of district continuous improvement efforts. The review focused on the six standards including but not limited to: Leadership and Governance; Curriculum and Instruction; Assessment; Human Resources an d Professional Development; Student Support; and Financial and Asset Management(and related indicators) that DESE has identified as being important components of district effectiveness.1
"Overall, the comprehensive district review final report provides us with a well grounded snapshot of where we have been; where we are; and where we need to go moving forward as a small rural regional school district serving the needs of Spencer, East Brookfield and surrounding communities of Southern Worcester County," said Superintendent of Schools, Paul Haughey. " "The strengths and area for growth highlighted throughout the final report for Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District will surely guide our collaborative efforts and work ahead in the creation of a five-year Strategic Plan. Moreover, given the feedback we received within this report, we will build a five-year financial plan to partner with our strategic planning work. so everyone has a clear roadmap for the future of the district."
