🗓️ NEW THIS WEEK!

New information to note!

First and foremost, THANK YOU!

Opening of school is always laden with some degree of anxiety, and this year was no exception! Throw in a brand-new facility being fully occupied for the first time by 320+ students and a full faculty /staff, and it was especially full of anticipation, but went incredibly smoothly!

This year's exciting opening of the first new-construction phase of the building project would not have gone as well as it did without an enormous team effort, including the MANY people on the construction, contractor, architect and builder teams; district and building staff; students, parents, guardians, and families; and the entire school community and beyond, who have been patient, flexible, quick to help, and supportive in this enormous endeavor. Thank you for what you've done thus far, and we appreciate your ongoing support as we go through one last year of major changes before opening Phase 2 next school year!

Don't miss The Spencer Fair this weekend!

David Prouty has student activities-sponsored booths at the Fair all weekend! Stop in and be sure to visit the Seniors' Booth and grab something delicious to eat, and don't miss the Prouty Marching Band's Dunk Tank!

🌄 Dawn Breaks on Senior Year!

An exciting and meaningful tradition, Senior Sunrise was held this past Monday, August 25, to celebrate the dawn of the Class of 2026's Senior Year at David Prouty High School! Thank you to Spencer Country Inn for providing a spot for our newest Seniors to gather and commemorate the kick off to this special year!

Morning Drop-off and Bus Procedures

After a first week of settling in to our routine at David Prouty High School, we want to extend sincere thanks to students, families, and AA Transportation for their patience, cooperation, and flexibility in helping us establish a safe and effective morning routine! Students being dropped off, and the drivers who bring them, are reminded that the drop zone is in front of the main entrance, and can be accessed by one-way traffic that enters the second parking lot area on the left.

The building opens at 7:30, so for the most efficient traffic flow, students should not be dropped off prior to that time so as not to become ensnared in bus traffic.

Thank you for your ongoing support!

Please be sure you are accessing Family ID to complete all back-to-school paperwork and important acknowledgments!

This is especially important to ensure that the primary / secondary contact, emergency, medical, and other information is updated and current in our system.

For incoming freshmen and new students, Chromebooks will be issued after the Student Handbook acknowledgment, which includes the Acceptable Use Policy, is signed!

Click here, on the thumbnail below, or use your camera and QR code to access the Family ID webpage! Directions below will get you to the appropriate location online.

DPHS Marching Band Summer Camp!

This past August, during some of the hottest days we experienced all summer, your DPHS Marching Band students and director were hard at work to perfect their routines during Band Camp. Thank you to Spencer Fire Department for coming out and relieving the heat with a special treat, delivered via fire hose! Look for DPHS Marching Band at events and games and prepare to be entertained!

Freshmen: Get Excited about your CTE Choices!

What is CTE? CTE stands for Career and Technical Education. Think you need to attend a vocational-technical school to get real-world training during high school? Guess again!

cte logoStay at Prouty AND get a head start on your career!

David Prouty High School has a diverse set of Career and Technical Education programs ON SITE designed to put students in the driver's seat for their futures with four relevant, high-demand options for career training and real-world experience.

At DPHS, students who are interested have the option to enter multi-year programs that provide hands-on study in Criminal Justice, Early Education and Care (Early Childhood Education), Environmental Science, or Marketing. As part of the CTE program, students get intensive programming in their chosen field, with capstone projects and internship opportunities with outside organizations directly using their training without leaving their friends or David Prouty High School!

How do I choose my path? How do I know what I want to study?

Great question!

All Freshman take a course of study in which they will sample EACH of the four programs during an 11-day rotation during first quarter to learn what the programs and careers they relate to are all about; this is called "Exploratory". Students are then able to select the program that appeals to their interests for the remainder of the school year, and if the pathway is something they are interested in pursuing further, they can formally enter the David Prouty CTE Program of their choice for their sophomore through senior years and advance their career aspirations.

Freshmen families received an email from CTE Department Head Ms. Leveillee on Thursday, August 28th containing important information about the Exploratory experience that 9th graders will have this year, and includes the schedule of rotation through each of the fascinating CTE programs. Students will continue to receive information about the exciting choice they have after rotation through the offerings this first term as the Fall progresses.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to building administration, guidance, or the CTE faculty.

Daily scheduleThis year's daily schedule has not changed from school year 2024-2025. Students should be in the building by 7:40 to get to class on time and avoid being marked tardy or absent. Please refer to the handbook for the attendance policy and consequences for chronic absenteeism or tardiness.

Attendance Matters! Parents / guardians play a key role in supporting your child and preparing them for a successful future. Engaging children in learning so they are equipped and feel empowered for the next steps in life after graduation starts with attending school regularly.

calendarRegular school attendance is critical to student success, not just academically, but for social/ emotional health, as well. Excessive school absences not only cause students to fall behind academically but can also cause anxiety issues when returning to school, due to missed lessons and make-up work. In addition, peer relationships can be negatively impacted.

We will keep a running list of Important Dates & Reminders for you each week in The Friday Memo so you can be sure not to miss anything important. For planning purposes, check out the district calendar here or click on the thumbnail (right).
