David Prouty has a culture of continuous improvement! We strive for improvement in every aspect of teaching & learning and the student experience in order to support students being productive at their highest levels. We are in the business of student achievement and building a positive school culture--these are the only agendas at DPHS that count!
We are proud to recognize Martina Ethier as our school’s recipient of the DAR Good Citizen Award!
Sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution. This award honors one senior each year who best exemplifies the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. Martina has consistently demonstrated these traits through her commitment to her school, community, and peers. With her strong character, dedication to service, and leadership both inside and outside the classroom, Martina truly represents the spirit of this award. Congratulations to Martina on this well-deserved honor!
Homecoming Week Celebrates Prouty Pride!
Homecoming Spirit Week was well represented among all grades as everyone gears up for Homecoming Weekend! Friday, Girls Varsity Soccer plays at home on the top field (3:30 p.m.), Boys Varsity Soccer play at Wire Village School (3:30 p.m.), and Varsity Football plays on the stadium field (7:00 p.m.). Join us for a game tonight, or plan to catch a game or meet by checking out the Athletic Schedules further down in The Friday Memo!
Distinguished Alumni Celebrated!
On Friday, October 10, the annual Distinguished Alumni Event was held at David Prouty High School. Each year, graduates from David Prouty who have gone on to great things near and far are recognized. Sponsored by Cornerstone Bank, professional portraits of these honored alumni are displayed in the building (to be displayed once again when the new building is complete) as a means of recognizing outstanding achievement. We hope this inspires current students to find their passion and do their best with what they learn, and use the experiences they get here at David Prouty to achieve their dreams.
Congratulations to this year's Distinguished Alumni: Sarah Hippert (Class of 2001); Timothy Dacey (Class of 2003), and Patrick Dacey (Class of 2005). Shown below, Ms. Hippert addresses the assembled student body, faculty/staff, and guests.

This year's Distinguished Alumni are shown below, along with a short bio in the event program. A ceremony where honorees were able to speak about their time at DPHS and how it impacted their lives was held in the gym in front of the student body, faculty and staff, and guests. Click on the thumbnail of the program to see a full-sized rendition. Thanks to Mary Braney for providing the program and to Cornerstone Bank for their support!
High Five Friday!

Varsity athletes from David Prouty traveled to Wire Village School this morning to greet arriving students. This meaningful gesture highlights the value of school-to-school relationship building and the importance of making all students feel welcome at school in an effort to create an atmosphere of true belonging.
The Return of Friday Night Lights!

After several seasons of offsite play for all teams, the return of HOME games this season is a reason to celebrate! Finally, Varsity soccer and Varsity football have returned to the upper field and stadium field under the lights! Last Friday's Football home opener was a spectacular evening between a win for the Panthers and a great showing of both the Cheer team and Marching Band! Join us for an upcoming game!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to emphasize the importance of early detection and adopt healthy habits that promote long-term wellness. While breast cancer is rare in teens, learning about self-awareness and family health history is an important step toward lifelong health. Please encourage the women in your life to schedule regular screenings!
Learn more about breast cancer and click the link from National Breast Cancer Foundation https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/what-is-breast-cancer/
The pink ribbon has become the universal symbol of breast cancer, illustrating the cause, raising awareness, and bringing together women in solidarity.
Health Tips
Fall brings cooler weather and an increase in respiratory illnesses, such as the common cold, flu, RSV, and COVID-19. Protect yourself and others by practicing healthy habits daily:
Wash your hands often with soap and water - especially before eating and using shared devices
Avoid touching your face
Cover your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue - then wash or sanitize your hands
Keep your immune system strong by getting enough rest, eating well, and staying hydrated
Fresh air - when possible, open windows and spend time outdoors
Stay home if you’re sick - students' symptoms must be improving, and they must be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication before returning to school
Please call or email the nurse with any questions or concerns!
