Good afternoon,
I hope this Superintendent Update for October 2025 finds you and your loved ones well. As you are aware, throughout October we have several events taking place within the Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District… from "Homecoming Week 2025" at David Prouty High School to "High Five Fridays" and "Friday Night Lights" at Archambeult Field to Scholastic Book Fairs at our elementary schools and AaTS Massachusetts bringing Tomo and Toshi for classroom and school-wide visits, there is something for everyone this month happening in every one of our schools within the Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District. In this month's Superintendent Update for October 2025, I wanted to take a moment to highlight a few key pieces of information for the public - highlighting the fact that we are on our way to awesome - as a result of our working together!
Enrollment: Our enrollment as a regional school district continues to grow daily, particularly at the high school and preschool levels. As of this morning, we have 1478 students enrolled within our district. David Prouty High School has 329 students enrolled; Knox Trail Middle School has 405 students; Wire Village School has 463 students; and East Brookfield Elementary School has 258 students, including 110 students enrolled for the "Cubs Corner" Preschool!
Personnel: We continue to post for and need special education paraprofessionals to join our district. As mentioned last month, we are very fortunate to have new personnel joining our faculty and staff this year who are committed to “continuous improvement," remaining positive, and focused upon teaching and learning with purpose – in partnership with our parents/families.
MCAS Update: Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) scores underscore the importance of maintaining a continued focus on addressing chronic absenteeism and enhancing early literacy. MCAS results from the spring 2025 administration will be mailed home to each parent/family and student shortly. Please be on the lookout for the assessment results for your son /daughter. Like many within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District received an accountability determination in 2025 for students in grades 3-8 & 10 for the second time since the COVID-19 pandemic. The Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District’s overall classification is “not requiring assistance or intervention” as a result of making “moderate progress toward targets.”

District and school accountability data will be available at: https://profiles.doe.mass.edu/statereport/accountability.aspx
