November is National Diabetes Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the growing impact of diabetes and the importance of prevention. More than 38 million Americans have diabetes, 90% - 95% of them have type 2 diabetes. Today, more children, teens, and young adults are developing type 2 diabetes than ever before. The good news? Type 2 diabetes can often be prevented or delayed with simple lifestyle changes that support healthy blood sugar balance, weight management, and overall well-being.
Why American Diabetes Month matters:
Every 26 seconds, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with diabetes
1 in 285 American children has diabetes
Nearly 1 in 2 Americans has diabetes or prediabetes
1 in 3 American seniors has diabetes
But these aren’t just statistics.
They’re mothers and fathers and kids and grandparents.
They have families and stories. Struggles and hopes.
Health Tip
Eating balanced meals, staying active, and getting enough sleep all help your body use energy more efficiently. Try swapping a sugary drink for water and aim for at least 60 minutes of movement daily.

Health Tips
Fall brings cooler weather and an increase in respiratory illnesses, such as the common cold, flu, RSV, and COVID-19. Protect yourself and others by practicing healthy habits daily:
Wash your hands often with soap and water - especially before eating and using shared devices
Avoid touching your face
Cover your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue - then wash or sanitize your hands
Keep your immune system strong by getting enough rest, eating well, and staying hydrated
Fresh air - when possible, open windows and spend time outdoors
Stay home if you’re sick - students' symptoms must be improving, and they must be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication before returning to school
Please call or email the nurse with any questions or concerns!
Playoff Action: follow all the post-season fun!
