On November, 15th four DPHS music students, Paige Fritze (Alto Saxophone), Jackson Rutkiewicz (Vocal), Bradyn LaFountain (Vocal), James Liam Hanlan (Percussion), auditioned for Central Districts, which is an opportunity for students to continue their music journey outside of the school with other central district schools. Bradyn LaFountain and Jackson Rutkiewicz both made Central Districts and will be performing in a concert in January 2026. Jackson received an All State recommendation which means he will audition one more time and have the opportunity to perform at the All- State Music Festival Concert held in Boston in March 2026.

DPHS Band Marches in Quincy Parade, Wins 3 Awards!

BandBandBandBandSunday, November 30th the David Prouty Concert Band participated in the annual Quincy Christmas Parade in Quincy, Massachusetts. The DPHS Band has been part of this parade for at least 20 years and has been a fan favorite throughout the parade. Several members dressed up in festival costumes and they performed "Holiday Celebration" with a fun cadence by the DPHS drumline. The David Prouty High School placed 2nd in Division 2. We also won Best Music and Best Percussion, beating schools with 150+ musicians! We are all so proud of the hard work the band students put in and look forward to seeing them perform their Winter Concert on December 11th at Knox Trail Middle School starting at 6:30pm.  Below, Mrs. Forfa, DPHS Marching Band Director, is presented with these awards by a representative of the Quincy Event on Thursday, December 4.

Nurse notesDanielle Breault, David Prouty High School Nurse

breaultd@sebrsd.org 🏫 508-885-8505 dial 1 for the nurse

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the growing impact of diabetes and the importance of prevention. More than 38 million Americans have diabetes, 90% - 95% of them have type 2 diabetes. Today, more children, teens, and young adults are developing type 2 diabetes than ever before. The good news? Type 2 diabetes can often be prevented or delayed with simple lifestyle changes that support healthy blood sugar balance, weight management, and overall well-being.

Why American Diabetes Month matters:

  • Every 26 seconds, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with diabetes

  • 1 in 285 American children has diabetes

  • Nearly 1 in 2 Americans has diabetes or prediabetes

  • 1 in 3 American seniors has diabetes

But these aren’t just statistics.

They’re mothers and fathers and kids and grandparents.

They have families and stories. Struggles and hopes.

Health Tip

Eating balanced meals, staying active, and getting enough sleep all help your body use energy more efficiently. Try swapping a sugary drink for water and aim for at least 60 minutes of movement daily.

For more information on diabetes, click the link: https://diabetes.org/about-diabetes

Health Tips

Fall brings cooler weather and an increase in respiratory illnesses, such as the common cold, flu, RSV, and COVID-19. Protect yourself and others by practicing healthy habits daily:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water - especially before eating and using shared devices

  • Avoid touching your face

  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue - then wash or sanitize your hands

  • Keep your immune system strong by getting enough rest, eating well, and staying hydrated

  • Fresh air - when possible, open windows and spend time outdoors

  • Stay home if you’re sick - students' symptoms must be improving, and they must be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication before returning to school

Please call or email the nurse with any questions or concerns!
