David Prouty has a culture of continuous improvement! We strive for improvement in every aspect of teaching & learning and the student experience in order to support students being productive at their highest levels. We are in the business of student achievement and building a positive school culture--these are the only agendas at DPHS that count!
Happy New Year!
Welcome back and welcome to 2026! We are looking forward to a busy winter season between a new semester, winter sports, MCAS retakes, and ongoing Panther Pride fun!
We are looking forward to again sharing with your all the goings on that make David Prouty High School a special place to be!
Back to the routine!
We want to thank everyone for their positive, productive return this week. Students, faculty, and staff alike all came back from the extended break appearing refreshed and ready to resume some normalcy once again!
To that end, please be sure our young men and women are being coached at home regarding healthy sleep, healthy eating, and healthy screen habits. Cell phones at school are allowed to be visible at lunch only, and any unlimited screen time over vacation is a sometimes difficult habit to undo once school resumes. Please help us by reminding students to keep phones away except at lunchtime, to arrive to school on time, maintain regular attendance, and to reach out when support is needed. There is a very dedicated staff here who are eager to help and to make DPHS a welcoming place for all students!
Our goal is to have a productive, high-achieving, positive atmosphere for all students, and we want to be as transparent as possible by sharing the expectations up front, reviewing them after long breaks, and being consistent in their application. Your support is invaluable to us.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us!
Chorus Opportunity! 🎶
Interested in singing with a group of amazing people? Sign up here and be part of the David Prouty Chorus! Rehearsals will meet on Mondays from 4-5:30pm starting January 26th, 2026. Chorus will include a concert or two before the end of the school year and possibly a trip to perform the National Anthem, Six Flags, or NYC with the DPHS Concert Band to see music (cost will be announced soon).
Expectations during rehearsals are to be on time, be at every rehearsal, be prepared, and be ready to sing and have fun!
If you're not sure or have any questions, please come see Mrs. Forfa in 237 at David Prouty High School.
Stay tuned for other opportunities!
Inclement weather, snow / ice delays and cancellations will be sent by the district when decisions about school have been made and you will receive automated calls and texts. Please be sure your most updated contact information is on file with the schools. Posts will also be made on the District's Facebook page. Snow days will impact the last day of school, which will be noted in Important Dates & Reminders, below, as well as being listed in the Events section of the DPHS website.
WHEN THE DISTRICT HAS A DELAYED OPENING, THE SCHEDULE CHANGES SLIGHTLY. WATCH FOR THE LIVE FEED OF THE DAY'S BELL SCHEDULE WHEN DELAYS ARE CALLED!
🎒Attendance Matters!
Did you know student attendance in school is a legal requirement that schools are obligated to track and report? Schools have a variety of resources to assist when students are school avoidant or reluctant to attend. If you need assistance, best to reach out and document your efforts as parents / guardians because if court support becomes necessary, the attempts to obtain help are often viewed favorably!
AND it's the law!

Health Tips
Fall brings cooler weather and an increase in respiratory illnesses, such as the common cold, flu, RSV, and COVID-19. Protect yourself and others by practicing healthy habits daily:
Wash your hands often with soap and water - especially before eating and using shared devices
Avoid touching your face
Cover your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue - then wash or sanitize your hands
Keep your immune system strong by getting enough rest, eating well, and staying hydrated
Fresh air - when possible, open windows and spend time outdoors
Stay home if you’re sick - students' symptoms must be improving, and they must be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication before returning to school
Please call or email the nurse with any questions or concerns!
