David Prouty has a culture of continuous improvement! We strive for improvement in every aspect of teaching & learning and the student experience in order to support students being productive at their highest levels. We are in the business of student achievement and building a positive school culture--these are the only agendas at DPHS that count!

Mock Trial Team Successes Continue with Two Recent Wins!
On Wednesday, January 21 the DPHS Mock Trial team, representing the defense, defeated Mahar Regional by a score of 100-96. With that win, DPHS advanced 2-0 in the preliminary round of the Massachusetts Bar Association Mock Trial competition. Then, on Wednesday, January 28, the David Prouty Mock Trial team, representing the prosecution, defeated Tantasqua in a close trial, 76-75. Lauren Tutlis, Geoffrey Gardiner, Bradyn LaFountain, and Kenzie Bailey were highly effective attorneys arguing the prosecution's case, while Paige Fritze, Scarlet Busse, and Althea Richer played excellent witnesses. This puts Prouty at 3-0 for the preliminary round of the tournament, winning their group and advancing to the playoffs, which will be held in early March. We are incredibly proud of our Mock Trial Team's performance in the tournament this year and look forward to reporting on more of their contests!
Be sure to note **NEW** recent updates to this year's school calendar!
TWO snow days (Monday, January 26 and Tuesday, January 27) plus the five flood-related days out in December have pushed DPHS's 180th Day of school to Monday, June 22nd;
Thursday, January 29, 2026 was originally slated to be a full professional development day for teachers and no school for students; January 29 was a HALF DAY OF SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS AT DAVID PROUTY HIGH SCHOOL ONLY and served as the 1st make-up day of 7 required so far;
Friday, April 3, 2026 was originally slated to be a no-school day for students and faculty / staff in observance of Good Friday; April 3 will now be a FULL DAY OF SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND STAFF AT DAVID PROUTY HIGH SCHOOL ONLY and will serve as the 2nd make up day of 7 required;
The remaining three missed days due to the flood that must be made up will be added to the end of the school as of now, along with the two snow days so far. If changes due to excessive snow days are necessary, updates will be shared as soon as they are known.
Transportation will be provided as usual on all make up days.
Please remember the flood days affect ONLY David Prouty High School and therefore make up days extend further into June for DPHS only. Please see the other district's school's calendars (Knox Trail Middle, East Brookfield Elementary, and Wire Village) for specifics on THEIR last day!
Congratulations to our January Panthers of the Month!
As part of the National Honor Society's Be the Change project, each month NHS recognizes two students with the Panthers of the Month award.

Panthers of the Month are nominated by the faculty for helping others, making more of an effort, and/or being role models for our school.
Congratulations to Vicky Zheng, right, and Liam Gaskill, left, for being our Panthers of the Month for January!
Thank you for making positive contributions to our DPHS community!
SAVE THE DATE!

Inclement weather, snow / ice delays and cancellations will be sent by the district when decisions about school have been made and you will receive automated calls and texts. Please be sure your most updated contact information is on file with the schools. Posts will also be made on the District's Facebook page. Snow days will impact the last day of school, which will be noted in Important Dates & Reminders, below, as well as being listed in the Events section of the DPHS website.
WHEN THE DISTRICT HAS A DELAYED OPENING, THE SCHEDULE CHANGES SLIGHTLY. WATCH FOR THE LIVE FEED OF THE DAY'S BELL SCHEDULE WHEN DELAYS ARE CALLED!
🎒Attendance Matters!
Did you know student attendance in school is a legal requirement that schools are obligated to track and report? Schools have a variety of resources to assist when students are school avoidant or reluctant to attend. If you need assistance, best to reach out and document your efforts as parents / guardians because if court support becomes necessary, the attempts to obtain help are often viewed favorably!
AND it's the law!

Corrections Officer Visits Criminal Justice Classroom!

On Friday, January 30, DPHS was honored to welcome Corrections Officer Linda Macleod. Officer Macleod has worked for over 17 years in corrections for the State of Massachusetts and came to speak to the students in the Criminal Justice program. Officer Macleod shared not only insight into corrections and everything it entails, but shared her personal experiences as well with the students.
These guests provide valuable exposure for our students to the widely varied career paths open to them as students in our Criminal Justice Program and we appreciate the time they take out of their busy day to spend with us!
CPR in CTE!
Junior and Seniors enrolled in our four CTE programs have begun CPR/First Aid Training with Mr. Bassett! This fulfills the state requirement to embed industry related credentials within all programs, ensuring that students graduate with marketable certifications. Offering CPR/First Aid training provides equitable access to skills that are expected across a range of career fields. Funding for supplies, instructional materials, and certification exam fees is provided by Perkins Grant Fund 453, supporting the goal to strengthen Career and Technical Education.
Hardy Environmental Science Studies

Waders can be used in water or snow. Ironically, these juniors are discussing how less snowfall due to climate change will impact our forests.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to building administration, guidance, or the CTE faculty.

Nurse Health Update
Several students were evaluated in the Health Office this week and sent home due to flu-like symptoms, including fever, sore throat, cough, headache, body aches, and fatigue. We are seeing increased seasonal illness, which is typical for this time of year.
Reminders for families and students:
Please keep students home if they have flu-like symptoms, including a fever (100 degrees F or higher).
Students may return to school when they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication, and their other symptoms are improving.
Encourage good hand hygiene, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying hydrated.
If symptoms are severe or persistent, please consult your physician.
Please click on this link for the SEBRSD guidelines for when your child is sick for more details.
Thank you for your continued support in helping keep our school community healthy!
Health Tips
February is American Heart Health Month, a time to raise awareness about the importance of cardiovascular health for students, staff, and families.
With heart disease being the leading cause of death in both men and women in the United States, it’s important not only this month, but every day, to take care of your cardiovascular health.
Heart health begins early, and health habits developed during adolescence can have a lifelong impact. We encourage families to support heart-healthy choices at home and school, including:
Regular physical activity
Balanced nutrition with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins
Adequate sleep
Stress management
Avoidance of tobacco and vaping products
Families are reminded to notify the health office of any student with a diagnosed heart condition, syncope (passing out), exercise-related symptoms, or a new medical diagnosis. Please ensure that all emergency health plans and prescribed medications are current and on file.
Please call or email the nurse with any questions or concerns!
