Good morning,
Some offsite programming of our security platforms being completed this morning inadvertently and unknowingly triggered part of our lockdown notification system. Because this triggered a police response that may have been witnessed by community members, we wanted to share this information.
While the building alarm was not activated, and classes were not disturbed, the notification to the emergency services in town was transmitted, and the MA State Police covering for Spencer PD after last night's incident arrived immediately prepared to respond. They left shortly thereafter upon confirming the false alarm.
This event was an electronic issue and at no time was there an actual threat or emergency at DPHS, nor was this in any way related to the unfortunate incident that took place nearby last night. At this time our systems are fully functional and the school day is progressing as normal.
