Early College High School Cohort Visits DPHS Partner, Worcester State University!

ECHSThis semester we are offering Personal Finance course through Worcester State University. This course offers 3 free college credits at Worcester State for Prouty students. The Early College program took a field trip including 43 students to take a tour at WSU. While there, students learned about academic programs, supports, took a look at the campus and had a great time at the university cafeteria! A trip later in February is planned for students to visit UMass Amherst.

Congratulations to Lucas Bastien, named Worcester Telegram & Gazette Student of the Month!

Lucas BastienHere's an excerpt from the nomination submission:

Lucas, a junior, is an honors student who takes pride in balancing academics and athletics. He serves as a captain on the football team and also plays baseball. Lucas was selected as the East Brookfield Ambassador for Project 351 and currently represents his school as an MIAA Student Ambassador. In addition to his school involvement, he enjoys giving back to his community by volunteering as a youth football coach.

Be sure to note updates to this year's school calendar!

  • TWO snow days (Monday, January 26 and Tuesday, January 27) plus the five flood-related days out in December have pushed DPHS's 180th Day of school to Monday, June 22nd;

  • Thursday, January 29, 2026 was originally slated to be a full professional development day for teachers and no school for students; January 29 was a HALF DAY OF SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS AT DAVID PROUTY HIGH SCHOOL ONLY and served as the 1st make-up day of 7 required so far;

  • Friday, April 3, 2026 was originally slated to be a no-school day for students and faculty / staff in observance of Good Friday; April 3 will now be a FULL DAY OF SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND STAFF AT DAVID PROUTY HIGH SCHOOL ONLY and will serve as the 2nd make up day of 7 required;

  • The remaining three missed days due to the flood that must be made up will be added to the end of the school as of now, along with the two snow days so far. If changes due to excessive snow days are necessary, updates will be shared as soon as they are known.

  • Transportation will be provided as usual on all make up days.

  • Please remember the flood days affect ONLY David Prouty High School and therefore make up days extend further into June for DPHS only.  Please see the other district's school's calendars (Knox Trail Middle, East Brookfield Elementary, and Wire Village) for specifics on THEIR last day!

Congratulations to our January Panthers of the Month!

As part of the National Honor Society's Be the Change project, each month NHS recognizes two students with the Panthers of the Month award.

SOTM

Panthers of the Month are nominated by the faculty for helping others, making more of an effort, and/or being role models for our school.

Congratulations to Vicky Zheng, right, and Liam Gaskill, left, for being our Panthers of the Month for January!

 Thank you for making positive contributions to our DPHS community!

SAVE THE DATE!

Save the Date

plowInclement weather, snow / ice delays and cancellations will be sent by the district when decisions about school have been made and you will receive automated calls and texts. Please be sure your most updated contact information is on file with the schools. Posts will also be made on the District's Facebook page. Snow days will impact the last day of school, which will be noted in Important Dates & Reminders, below, as well as being listed in the Events section of the DPHS website.

WHEN THE DISTRICT HAS A DELAYED OPENING, THE SCHEDULE CHANGES SLIGHTLY. WATCH FOR THE LIVE FEED OF THE DAY'S BELL SCHEDULE WHEN DELAYS ARE CALLED!

🎒Attendance Matters!

Did you know student attendance in school is a legal requirement that schools are obligated to track and report? Schools have a variety of resources to assist when students are school avoidant or reluctant to attend. If you need assistance, best to reach out and document your efforts as parents / guardians because if court support becomes necessary, the attempts to obtain help are often viewed favorably!

AND it's the law!

SWAG STORES! 🥳 SHOW YOUR PANTHER PRIDE!

  • Follow the David Prouty Athletic Boosters on Facebook for access to the latest gear, price list, and updates on where to find us during home games. They'll be at most home games—so swing by, grab some swag and a snack, and learn how you can support our student-athletes through the Boosters program.

Nurse Health Update

Several students were evaluated in the Health Office this week and sent home due to flu-like symptoms, including fever, sore throat, cough, headache, body aches, and fatigue. We are seeing increased seasonal illness, which is typical for this time of year.

Reminders for families and students:

  • Please keep students home if they have flu-like symptoms, including a fever (100 degrees F or higher).

  • Students may return to school when they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication, and their other symptoms are improving.

  • Encourage good hand hygiene, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying hydrated.

  • If symptoms are severe or persistent, please consult your physician.

Please click on this link for the SEBRSD guidelines for when your child is sick for more details.

Thank you for your continued support in helping keep our school community healthy!

Health Tips

February is American Heart Health Month, a time to raise awareness about the importance of cardiovascular health for students, staff, and families.

With heart disease being the leading cause of death in both men and women in the United States, it’s important not only this month, but every day, to take care of your cardiovascular health.

Heart health begins early, and health habits developed during adolescence can have a lifelong impact. We encourage families to support heart-healthy choices at home and school, including:

  • Regular physical activity

  • Balanced nutrition with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins

  • Adequate sleep

  • Stress management

  • Avoidance of tobacco and vaping products

Families are reminded to notify the health office of any student with a diagnosed heart condition, syncope (passing out), exercise-related symptoms, or a new medical diagnosis. Please ensure that all emergency health plans and prescribed medications are current and on file.
