On Thursday, May 28th, David Prouty's Class of 2026 celebrated commencement at Polar Park in Worcester! Thank you to all of the families, friends, staff, faculty, and community guests who joined us in commemorating this special event!
🎓 Senior Week Events 🎓
It was a busy stretch throughout the end of May as the Class of 2026 enjoyed the string of Senior Events! From Senior Stroll, to Class Day and cookout, Senior Sunset, and Graduation, our graduates shared memories, their plans for the future, and a celebratory atmosphere before accepting their diplomas on that special evening.

End of Year Spirit Week!
Coming Soon: Summer School 2026 Enrollment Information!
Students eligible for summer school will be receiving details about enrollment, including transportation information, shortly! Currently, because there is still time left in the school year, final eligibility lists are not known but students who are anticipated to need credit recovery in order to stay on track for graduation or make up lost credits will be offered space our free summer school program!
The program will run mornings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, July 7 - August 6 and will consist of two courses per day. Students who qualify are able to take one or both sessions this summer, and if they and successfully complete the program, reclaim up to two credits. Per the DPHS Student Handbook, qualifying for summer school requires students to have obtained at least a 50 for their final year-long grade.
The benefits of summer school include not repeating a course, retaining a place in the graduating cohort, and reducing the summer slide of academic progress! Please encourage your eligible students to enroll.
Students will also receive free breakfast and lunch, as well as transportation to and from DPHS!

Please remember, per the DPHS Student Handbook, any student looking to be dismissed after finals must have a written note signed by a parent / guardian or that parent / guardian must sign them out at the main office

As part of the National Honor Society's Be the Change Project, each month NHS recognizes two students with the Panthers of the Month award. Panthers of the month are nominated by the faculty for helping others, making an effort, and / or being role models for our school.

Student Council had our last meeting of the year yesterday! Current members are applying for 26-27 Officer positions with contracts/nominations due next Tuesday the 9th. We will hold an internal vote via Google Form on Thursday the 11th. Please consider SUMMER SCHOOL for any student who failed a core course, or Health/PE!
More information will be forthcoming from our Summer School Coordinator and / or the school counselors regarding summer school eligibility and the courses being offered. Recruitment for this program will start next week. We are trying to break the cycle of failures that result in repeated courses and reduced motivation, which in turn impact a student's year of graduation so they stay on track with their classmates and graduate on time!
It may not seem it, but decisions and actions made as a Freshman (9th grade) immediately have an effect on a student's successful graduation timeline. The clock is running right away in high school, so if a student is behind on credits leaving 9th grade, they are creating habits that may keep them from graduating at all by making the climb through the upper grades even steeper if they're behind credits.

Health Requirements for the 2026-2027 School Year
Mandatory Paperwork and Emergency Action Plans
Health Updates: Please notify the school nurse of any changes to your student's health, including new allergies or health conditions.
Immunizations: Massachusetts requires the MenACWY (meningococcal conjugate) vaccine in grades 7-12. Students entering grade 7 must have one dose of MenACWY, and students entering grade 11 must have a booster dose received on or after age 16. Students who have not met these requirements may be excluded from school until the appropriate documentation is provided. Emergency Action Plans: For students with seizures, anaphylaxis, diabetes, or asthma, parents must provide updated Emergency Action Plans with signed medical orders from their physician. Once complete, return to the school nurse.
Medication Policies
New orders: All medication orders must be renewed at the beginning of every school year.
Medication Drop-Off: Parents or guardians must bring all prescription and over-the-counter medications directly to the nurse’s office in their original pharmacy containers. Medications must be in the original labeled bottle and contain no more than a 30-day supply. Students may not carry medications unless specifically authorized by the nurse and the physician.

Sports Physicals
Under the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) rules, an athlete’s physical exam is valid for 13 months from the date of the exam; i.e., an exam performed on 9/22/2024 will be valid until 10/22/25. Students who participate in sports need to have a valid physical on record with the nurse’s office that is current through their entire sports season.
If your student’s physical exam expires during the sports season, they will be exempt from play until a new physical is provided to the nurse. Please plan accordingly and schedule your student’s physicals to avoid any interruption in your student’s athletic season.
