David Prouty has a culture of continuous improvement! We strive for improvement in every aspect of teaching & learning and the student experience in order to support students being productive at their highest levels. We are in the business of student achievement and building a positive school culture--these are the only agendas at DPHS that count!
Final Exams Schedule
Final exams began Friday, June 12!! All days are FULL DAYS of school!
Please see below for important logistics and expectations regarding final exams:
Attendance Expectations:
· Students that are absent and would like to take an exam during the make up testing session must have documentation as outlined in the Student Handbook. Otherwise a make up exam will not be offered. Please check the handbook (on our website) if you have questions.
· All exam days are full days; classes continue after exams. If students are to be dismissed, they can leave after the exams are concluded for the day (11:05am), provided they bring in a note with the specific date of dismissal signed by a parent or legal guardian. AS OUTLINED IN THE HANDBOOK, FOR SAFETY OF ALL STUDENTS, NOTES CANNOT BE ACCEPTED VIA EMAIL, OR PHONE.
Testing Expectations:
· Tardy students will not be allowed to enter the testing room after the testing period begins.
· Cellphones and headphones are not permitted at any time, including during or after testing. Like during MCAS, students seen using these items are subject to consequences for violation of the academic integrity expectations and a zero on the exam.
· If students finish the exam prior to the end of the testing period, they are required to stay in the assigned class / testing room until the exam period has ended.
· All applicable materials (textbooks, etc.) should be returned to the teacher prior to taking your exam.
Please reach out if you have any questions. Best of luck on your exams!
Please remember, per the DPHS Student Handbook, any student looking to be dismissed after finals must have a written note signed by a parent / guardian or that parent / guardian must sign them out at the main office
Summer School 2026 Enrollment Information!
Students eligible for summer school will start receiving details about enrollment, including transportation information! Final eligibility is determined by final grades in some cases, but some students who are anticipated to need credit recovery in order to stay on track for graduation or make up lost credits will be contacted now about our free summer school program!
The program will run mornings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, July 7 - August 6 and will consist of two courses per day. Students who qualify are able to take one or both sessions this summer, and if they and successfully complete the program, reclaim up to two credits. Per the DPHS Student Handbook, qualifying for summer school requires students to have obtained at least a 50 for their final year-long grade.
The benefits of summer school include not repeating a course, retaining a place in the graduating cohort, and reducing the summer slide of academic progress! Please encourage your eligible students to enroll.
Students will also receive free breakfast and lunch, as well as transportation to and from DPHS!
Don't miss this FREE opportunity to get back on track before next school year, brought to you by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Early College High School grant!
Congratulations to our May Panthers of the Month!
As part of the National Honor Society's Be the Change Project, each month NHS recognizes two students with the Panthers of the Month award. Panthers of the month are nominated by the faculty for helping others, making an effort, and / or being role models for our school.

Congratulations to Max Kirouac and Sara Arrieta Jaimes for being our Panthers of the Month! Thank you for making a positive impact and your contributions to our DPHS community!
David Prouty High School Announces Exciting Opportunity!
We are excited to share news that yesterday, six additional Summer 2026 college courses were made available to current David Prouty students through our partnership with Worcester State University! These courses are funded through FIPSE Grant, which means there are no tuition or textbook costs for participating students!
The newly announced FIPSE Summer 2026 Courses and their schedules are available below:
IMPORTANT: Transportation will NOT be provided for the above courses held in person on the Worcester State University campus! Families are responsible for arranging transportation to and from campus.
All courses will run between July 7th and August 20th, 2026. WSU Course descriptions can be found here. Attendance and grading policies are at the discretion of the WSU Professors.
If you or your student are interested in registering for any of the above courses, please discuss these opportunities with a Guidance Counselor and complete the linked registration form by June 18th, 2026.
Please note:
Worcester State requires that all students registering for FIPSE courses receive approval from Guidance Counselors before we enroll students. Registration does not guarantee enrollment due to seat limits that may result in waitlists. We will communicate those cases as soon as we are made aware. The enrollment deadline is next Thursday, June 18th. We encourage those who are interested in these courses to complete the registration form as soon as possible, as these courses are open to students from several high school partners.
These courses carry college level requirements. It is the expectation of students who enroll in these courses to be responsible for completing the work independently. Students will not have consistent access to a David Prouty faculty member for support, which is our model for Early College courses that are offered during the school year. Students are encouraged to practice self-advocacy and will be responsible for reaching out directly to their professor with questions or feedback to request updated grades and feedback.
Public school 504 Plans and IEPs do not transfer to college. Enrollment in these courses provides students with access to register with Student Accessibility Services. This is the responsibility of the student to access support due to disability. Please do not register with SAS until enrollment is confirmed.
Enrolled students will also have access to on-campus resources such as the WSU Writing Center and the Academic Success Center. Those opportunities and their contact are available here.
Please reach out to me or a Guidance Counselor with any questions or concerns!
At this time, Personal Health, offered earlier, has reached its capacity, but interested students can contact their counselor to be placed on a wait list!
Information will also be emailed!

Please consider SUMMER SCHOOL for any student who failed a core course, or Health/PE!
More information will be forthcoming from our Summer School Coordinator and / or the school counselors regarding summer school eligibility and the courses being offered. Recruitment for this program will start next week. We are trying to break the cycle of failures that result in repeated courses and reduced motivation, which in turn impact a student's year of graduation so they stay on track with their classmates and graduate on time!
It may not seem it, but decisions and actions made as a Freshman (9th grade) immediately have an effect on a student's successful graduation timeline. The clock is running right away in high school, so if a student is behind on credits leaving 9th grade, they are creating habits that may keep them from graduating at all by making the climb through the upper grades even steeper if they're behind credits.

Health Requirements for the 2026-2027 School Year
Mandatory Paperwork and Emergency Action Plans
Health Updates: Please notify the school nurse of any changes to your student's health, including new allergies or health conditions.
Immunizations: Massachusetts requires the MenACWY (meningococcal conjugate) vaccine in grades 7-12. Students entering grade 7 must have one dose of MenACWY, and students entering grade 11 must have a booster dose received on or after age 16. Students who have not met these requirements may be excluded from school until the appropriate documentation is provided. For more information, see https://www.mass.gov/doc/immunization-requirements-for-school-entry-updated-21226/download
Emergency Action Plans: For students with seizures, anaphylaxis, diabetes, or asthma, parents must provide updated Emergency Action Plans with signed medical orders from their physician. Once complete, return to the school nurse.
Medication Policies
New orders: All medication orders must be renewed at the beginning of every school year.
Medication Drop-Off: Parents or guardians must bring all prescription and over-the-counter medications directly to the nurse’s office in their original pharmacy containers. Medications must be in the original labeled bottle and contain no more than a 30-day supply. Students may not carry medications unless specifically authorized by the nurse and the physician.
Never send students to school with loose pills
Sports Physicals
Under the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) rules, an athlete’s physical exam is valid for 13 months from the date of the exam; i.e., an exam performed on 9/22/2024 will be valid until 10/22/25. Students who participate in sports need to have a valid physical on record with the nurse’s office that is current through their entire sports season.
If your student’s physical exam expires during the sports season, they will be exempt from play until a new physical is provided to the nurse. Please plan accordingly and schedule your student’s physicals to avoid any interruption in your student’s athletic season.
Please call or email the nurse with any questions or concerns!
