We couldn't be more excited to open the doors next week on a new era at David Prouty. As evidenced by the many stories and recollections shared by families touring the new building during our recent orientation and open house events, there are many fond memories and important milestones that involve David Prouty High School in all its eras and incarnations. We look forward to continuing that tradition and providing the best environment for our students to learn, thrive, and find purpose in their time here.

Once we are fully operational and announce a date, we hope to see anyone and everyone from our district towns who has been part of and watched this incredible project take shape, and who we hope to see utilize this beautiful facility in the years to come. We hope to become a community center in the truest sense of the word!

🥳 Thank you to everyone who came out for our 9th Grade Orientation and 10-12th Grade Open House events!

On Thursday, August 27th, David Prouty High School hosted two welcome-back events to provide students and families with information about the upcoming year as well as an opportunity to tour the new facility! It was a fantastic turnout and an evening full of positive energy as students and families got some information about the upcoming year and the opportunity to tour the gorgeous new school facility! Thank you to our amazing Student Council students who helped host this important event by greeting and directing visitors, and to the staff members who came to support it. Incoming 9th Graders received a personalized welcome folder with their schedule and other pertinent information to help make the transition to high school smoother and help everyone feel prepared.

Did you miss orientation or open house? Don't worry! We emailed all information shared on that evening with each respective grade level! We also shared the building layout maps which can also be found here!

Please note!

We are gearing up for an amazing school year with lots to share with everyone to prepare for opening day on September 1st! Please be sure you are reading further so you don't miss important information needed to ensure smooth start to the year!

🚌 Bus route information is found on our website! Click here for the bus routes, which are also linked on our webpage. We STRONGLY encourage anyone who is eligible for bus transportation to utilize it in order to minimize private car traffic as much as possible to avoid traffic backups on Route 9.

🚗 Student Drop off & Pickup: SAFETY FIRST!

Due to staffing availability and resources, the building is open at 7:30 a.m. but not before, regardless of weather. Please plan accordingly. For safety, students are not permitted to enter the building before then and therefore should not be on school grounds before that time.

Parking for DPHS staff and visitors is outlined below. Due to the new combined PreSchool / DPHS complex and associated car traffic, we anticipate there to be SIGNIFICANT traffic due to the shared driveway so the plans for student drop off are especially critical to note.

DPHS DROP OFF--AFTER 7:30 A.M. ONLY

There is no space for parents / guardians dropping off students to park and wait for the doors to open. We have extraordinarily limited parking for faculty and staff and these spots cannot be occupied by parents/guardians. Drop off must follow a drop-and-go procedure (think "AIRPORT").

DPHS student drop offs by private vehicle are permitted AFTER 7:30 a.m., using the main campus driveway, and following posted signs and / or staff on duty. The lane closest to the building is one way, and is reserved for BUSES ONLY until after 8:00 a.m., and all parking (if the driver is exiting their vehicle) should be in the visitor spaces as shown below.

There are TWO rounds of buses, so if you see buses leaving, that doesn't mean the lane closest to the door is available yet; please follow the 8:00 a.m. expectation.

Student parking will begin on Tuesday, September 8, as outlined in the communications that have been issued in August. Please be sure you are adhering to any published deadlines.

DPHS PICK UP--AFTER 2:20 ONLY

Similar to drop off, afternoon dismissal pick ups are designated after 2:20 once buses are clear. Pick ups can be made in the one-way lane closest to the door, after 2:20 p.m.

DISMISSALS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY / LATE DROP OFF

After 8:00 a.m. and before 1:45 p.m., parents / guardians who are dropping or picking up can use the one-way lane closest to the front door. If you are exiting your vehicle, you must park in the designated visitor parking shown below.

Until 8:00 a.m. and starting at 1:45, this one-way lane must remain clear so buses can stage for drop off and dismissal.

Don't miss The Spencer Fair next weekend!

David Prouty has student activities-sponsored booths at the Fair all weekend! Stop in and be sure to visit the Seniors' Booth and grab something delicious to eat, and don't miss the Prouty Marching Band's Dunk Tank!

Please stop in and support the DPHS activities at The Spencer Fair. Students and their advisors work hard to provide quality fun and food for all ages. FIRST DAY PAPERWORK!

Please be sure you are accessing Family ID to complete all back-to-school paperwork and important acknowledgments!

This is especially important to ensure that the primary / secondary contact, emergency, medical, and other information is updated and current in our system.

For incoming freshmen and new students, Chromebooks will be issued after the Student Handbook acknowledgment, which includes the Acceptable Use Policy, is signed!

This past two weeks, your DPHS Marching Band students and director were hard at work to perfect their routines during Band Camp. Look for DPHS Marching Band at events and games and prepare to be entertained!

Freshmen: Get Excited about your CTE Choices!

What is CTE? CTE stands for Career and Technical Education. Think you need to attend a vocational-technical school to get real-world training during high school? Guess again!

Stay at Prouty AND get a head start on your career!

David Prouty High School has a diverse set of Career and Technical Education programs ON SITE designed to put students in the driver's seat for their futures with four relevant, high-demand options for career training and real-world experience.

At DPHS, students who are interested have the option to enter multi-year programs that provide hands-on study in Criminal Justice, Early Education and Care (Early Childhood Education), Environmental Science, or Marketing. As part of the CTE program, students get intensive programming in their chosen field, with capstone projects and internship opportunities with outside organizations directly using their training without leaving their friends or David Prouty High School!

How do I choose my path? How do I know what I want to study?

Great question!

All Freshman take a course of study in which they will sample EACH of the four programs during an 11-day rotation during first quarter (dates above) to learn what the programs and careers they relate to are all about; this is called "Exploratory". Students are then able to select the program that appeals to their interests for the remainder of the school year, and if the pathway is something they are interested in pursuing further, they can formally enter the David Prouty CTE Program of their choice for their sophomore through senior years and advance their career aspirations.

Freshmen families received important information at orientation about the Exploratory experience that 9th graders will have this year, including the schedule of rotation through each of the fascinating CTE programs. Students will continue to receive information about the exciting choice they have after rotation through the offerings this first term as the Fall progresses.

2026-2027 Daily Schedule

This year's daily schedule has not changed from school year 2025-2026. Students should be in their first period class by 7:45 to avoid being marked absent and late.

On the first day of school, Tuesday, September 1, we will have an amended schedule to allow building tours and grade-level meetings. All students will have ample time to learn their way around, ask questions, and become acclimated to the new school!

Attendance Matters! Parents / guardians play a key role in supporting your child and preparing them for a successful future. Engaging children in learning so they are equipped and feel empowered for the next steps in life after graduation starts with attending school regularly.

Regular school attendance is critical to student success, not just academically, but for social/ emotional health, as well. Excessive school absences not only cause students to fall behind academically but can also cause anxiety issues when returning to school, due to missed lessons and make-up work. In addition, peer relationships can be negatively impacted.

Student schedules are complete, but students have until Thursday, September 3 to meet with their counselor to discuss requests for changes. All requests for counselor appointments specific to scheduling should be made ASAP.

Please note due to individual student needs and credit fulfillment, staffing, and available resources, requests for schedule changes that differ from course sign ups and springtime schedule planning cannot be accommodated. Significant time and planning is done along with students during course sign ups each spring to ensure we can staff student requests and credit requirements, so we cannot fulfill requests due to changing preferences without impacting these critical schedule parameters. Thank you for your cooperation.

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a safe and healthy summer! Please take a moment to review these important Health Office reminders. 

Please notify the nurse of any new medical conditions, allergies, or medications that may affect your student’s care during the school day. 

As part of the First day of school paperwork, which is electronic, parents/guardians should complete the health information, which includes: 

• Emergency contact information

• Allergies

• Parent/guardian permission for over-the-counter medication administration (Tylenol, Motrin, Tums), when applicable

Please note: We will not administer medications at school without the required electronic parent/guardian consent. Paper copies are available upon request, or you can click OTC permission

For all other prescription and non-prescription medications required to be administered to a student during school hours, an updated physician’s order is required at the start of every school year. 

For student safety, all medications excluding EpiPens and Inhalers must be delivered directly to the Health Office by a parent/guardian or other trusted adult. Students should not transport medications to school. All medication must be in the original labeled prescription bottle and include no more than a 30-day supply.

💦 Stay Hydrated: Bring a refillable water bottle, use our brand new water refill stations, and stay hydrated! Water is vital and plays a key role in many of our body’s functions. Water can help you stay focused and have more energy. It can prevent issues like headaches, irritability, and fatigue.
