DPHS Officially Cuts the Ribbon!
On Thursday, September 10, DPHS cut the ribbon on the new project with local dignitaries, the Massachusetts School Building Authority, the SEBRSD School Building Committee and members of the community.
DPHS Senior Bella Dixon represented the school by officially cutting ribbon and signifying the newest era of David Prouty High School!

Once we are fully operational and announce a date, we hope to see anyone and everyone from our district towns who has been part of and watched this incredible project take shape, and who we hope to see utilize this beautiful facility in the years to come. We hope to become a community center in the truest sense of the word!

☝️ Important Information for Parents / Guardians:
The DPHS Student Handbook is posted on our website. Please be sure you are looking through it for information on important aspects of DPHS operations, like:
Dismissal Procedures--parents / guardians must send a written, signed, dated note to school in order for us to release a student. Phone calls and emails are not permitted as they do not allow us to verify identity. Even students who are 18 need parental permission to sign themselves out.
Attendance Procedures--be aware of the impact attendance has on credits and how to avoid the pitfalls of excessive attendance. Regular attendance is not just a DPHS preference, it's the law.
Absent Notification--any student whose parent / guardian has not called them out for the day will have a phone call sent home to verify the absence.
Behavioral Expectations--it's important that students and families are aware of behavioral expectations so they can be reinforced and understood. While standards might be different at home or in different places in a student's life, it is very important that they understand at school, expectations that are in place are based on safety, security, and the incredible responsibility we have for maintaining a learning environment that supports everyone!
Food and Beverage--students will not be permitted to consume anything but water after the end of first period. Due to our grab-and-go breakfast process, we allow students first period to consume their breakfast. After this time, because of the consistent issues with trash, insects / mice or other pests attracted by food (which is costly to remediate), damage done by liquids and food on furniture and technology, as well as keeping the halls safe from slippery spills, students must be done or throw out coffee, food, or any beverages than water. Please help support this expectation to keep this brand-new facility clean and looking beautiful!
Medications Policy--it is critical that students receive any medication that they require, and our handbook has details on how to safely and appropriately document and provide this medication while in school.
Tardy-to-School Procedures--students arriving late disrupt the learning of others and "on time" means IN first period when the 7:45 a.m. bell rings. The bell system is automated and synced to standard cell phone time. Whether a student is on time is determined by this clock system. Students arriving to school by car should allow extra time for traffic, flat tires, or other things that may delay their arrival. Two free tardies per quarter are given for these or similar circumstances, but if students use them for no reason, they will be held to the expectation that a detention is served for the third and every subsequence tardy. ANY arrival after 8:00 a.m. is issued a tardy and there are no free passes for students arriving this late.
Our 2026-2027 Student Handbook is posted on our website and is the responsibility of every student and parent / guardian to read and acknowledge through Family ID. Failure to submit the electronic acknowledgement does not preclude students from being held accountable to the handbook expectations or district policies.

VEHICLE INFORMATION FOR DISMISSALS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY / LATE DROP OFF
After 8:00 a.m. and before 1:45 p.m., parents / guardians who are dropping or picking up can use the one-way lane closest to the front door. If you are exiting your vehicle, you must park in the designated visitor parking shown below.
Until 8:00 a.m. and starting at 1:45, this one-way lane must remain clear so buses can stage for drop off and dismissal.
Please note the additional traffic flow created by the Cubs Corner PreSchool is now active for morning and afternoon sessions!

FUNDRAISERS! SUPPORT YOUR PANTHERS!
The Prouty Music Association currently has two fundraisers that you can contribute to and get both great stuff, and support our awesome student musicians.
1. Prouty Music Fundraiser – Meadow Farms Candle
We are working with Meadow Farms Candle, a Massachusetts-based company, for our current fundraiser. There are lots of great items available, including candles, wrapping paper, kitchen supplies, chocolates, and more! These funds will be going towards the Band Trip in 2027, Hershey Park!

FIRST DAY PAPERWORK!
Please be sure you are accessing Family ID to complete all back-to-school paperwork and important acknowledgments!
Freshman cannot receive their Chromebook until this step is completed.
This is especially important to ensure that the primary / secondary contact, emergency, medical, and other information is updated and current in our system.
For incoming freshmen and new students, Chromebooks will be issued after the Student Handbook acknowledgment, which includes the Acceptable Use Policy, is signed!

Real World Experiences!
The Pace Program students were busy learning skills such as budgeting, meal planning, and learning store navigation while at Price Chopper this week.
Did you know that DPHS is an officially-designated Early College High School? This means that students at David Prouty have access to college classes that bear college credit while attending DPHS. These courses carry fully-transferrable credit that gives them a head start on college coursework which can impact both time and financial burdens!
Thanks to a generous grant from the state, we have been able to implement this program to benefit students across all grade levels as they're given opportunities that inspire them to consider college options, take field trips to college campuses, be exposed to speakers and presentations that help them realize the potential that a college-track future provides!

Be sure you check your email for Ms. Leveillee's Class of 2030 Exploratory Welcome Letter for details about the Career and Technical Education Program at DPHS!
Reminders from Ms. Leveillee's email:
Each Rotation contributes 25% towards final Q1 Exploratory grades.
Instructors will communicate any issues or concerns, such as failure warnings throughout their rotations.
It is imperative that students maintain motivation, attention, and effort throughout each rotation. Failing Exploratory grades may impact student choice of program for Q2.
At the end of Exploratory, students will communicate their top program choice to continue exploring for the rest of 9th Grade (and hopefully beyond!) Usually, students are placed in their first program choice.
In the event that a program has more applicants than our maximum number of seats (24), students and families will be notified that a weighted lottery procedure will be utilized.
Students placed in the weighted lottery will get one entry per the following criteria:
One entry for interest,
One entry if their Exploratory grade was 90% or higher,
One entry if, as of 11/6/26, they have a 5% or lower attendance rate for Q1 (3 or less days absent).
All eligible entries (maximum of 3) will be submitted to a random lottery generator to place students in their first choice. Students who do not get placed in their first choice, will be placed in the second, and so on.

David Prouty High School has a diverse set of Career and Technical Education programs ON SITE designed to put students in the driver's seat for their futures with four relevant, high-demand options for career training and real-world experience.
At DPHS, students who are interested have the option to enter multi-year programs that provide hands-on study in Criminal Justice, Early Education and Care (Early Childhood Education), Environmental Science, or Marketing. As part of the CTE program, students get intensive programming in their chosen field, with capstone projects and internship opportunities with outside organizations directly using their training without leaving their friends or David Prouty High School!
How do I choose my path? How do I know what I want to study?
Great question!
All Freshman take a course of study in which they will sample EACH of the four programs during an 11-day rotation during first quarter (dates above) to learn what the programs and careers they relate to are all about; this is called "Exploratory". Students are then able to select the program that appeals to their interests for the remainder of the school year, and if the pathway is something they are interested in pursuing further, they can formally enter the David Prouty CTE Program of their choice for their sophomore through senior years and advance their career aspirations.

Freshmen families received important information at orientation about the Exploratory experience that 9th graders will have this year, including the schedule of rotation through each of the fascinating CTE programs. Students will continue to receive information about the exciting choice they have after rotation through the offerings this first term as the Fall progresses.

2026-2027 Daily Schedule
This year's daily schedule has not changed from school year 2025-2026. Students should be in their first period class by 7:45 to avoid being marked absent and late.
On the first day of school, Tuesday, September 1, we will have an amended schedule to allow building tours and grade-level meetings. All students will have ample time to learn their way around, ask questions, and become acclimated to the new school!
Attendance Matters! Parents / guardians play a key role in supporting your child and preparing them for a successful future. Engaging children in learning so they are equipped and feel empowered for the next steps in life after graduation starts with attending school regularly.
Regular school attendance is critical to student success, not just academically, but for social/ emotional health, as well. Excessive school absences not only cause students to fall behind academically but can also cause anxiety issues when returning to school, due to missed lessons and make-up work. In addition, peer relationships can be negatively impacted.
We will keep a running list of Important Dates & Reminders for you each week in The Friday Memo so you can be sure not to miss anything important. For planning purposes, check out the district calendar here or click on the thumbnail (right).

Community Service Opportunity!
There is a community service REQUIREMENT in order to graduate from David Prouty
Here are a couple of exciting fall volunteer opportunities to share with you. Remember, these are GREAT WAYS to add to your REQUIRED community service hours for graduation!
First, Camp Marshall is hosting their inaugural Halloween Kids' Fest on Saturday October 17th in the evening. I do not have specific time details yet but will get that out to you ASAP.
Second, Wire Village School is hosting their second annual Trunk or Treat & Spooky Walk on Saturday, October 24th from 4-6 PM. They are looking for student volunteers to
: Direct people to the back parking lot or spooky walk,
Distribute candy to trunks as they get low, Dress up in something spooky for the spooky walk (not TOO scary/inappropriate for the elementary school), and sitting at the voting table (voting for best trunk decorations) to monitor it. Plan to be there from 3:30-6:15.

-Mrs. A. Wire Village School is looking for student volunteers to help out with their monthly PAWS (Parents At Wire Village School) meetings with watching young children who have to accompany their parent(s) to the meeting.

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a safe and healthy summer! Please take a moment to review these important Health Office reminders.
Please notify the nurse of any new medical conditions, allergies, or medications that may affect your student’s care during the school day.
As part of the First day of school paperwork, which is electronic, parents/guardians should complete the health information, which includes:
Emergency contact information
Allergies
Parent/guardian permission for over-the-counter medication administration (Tylenol, Motrin, Tums), when applicable
Please note: We will not administer medications at school without the required electronic parent/guardian consent. Paper copies are available upon request, or you can click OTC permission
For all other prescription and non-prescription medications required to be administered to a student during school hours, an updated physician’s order is required at the start of every school year.
For student safety, all medications excluding EpiPens and Inhalers must be delivered directly to the Health Office by a parent/guardian or other trusted adult. Students should not transport medications to school. All medication must be in the original labeled prescription bottle and include no more than a 30-day supply.

💦 Stay Hydrated: Bring a refillable water bottle, use our brand new water refill stations, and stay hydrated! Water is vital and plays a key role in many of our body’s functions. Water can help you stay focused and have more energy. It can prevent issues like headaches, irritability, and fatigue.
