This year, summer reading will be used as a way to earn extra credit in your English class. Successfully completing summer reading will earn a 100% quiz grade added to a student’s overall Q1 average for your English course. In order to receive extra credit, students must earn a passing score on one or more accelerated reading tests when they return to school at the end of the summer. Accelerated reading is a program that allows students to read almost any book of their choice and demonstrate comprehension for a quiz.
- Students entering an SC English course need to read a total value of 10 or more points.
- Students entering an Honors English course need to read a total value of 14 or more points.
- In either case, this can be done in a single book or any combination of two books.
