Welcome Back! I hope this letter finds you recharged, ready, and prepared for an outstanding new school year ahead. In an effort to help you prepare, I wanted to share a few key pieces of information for the year ahead.
As a reminder, students in grades 1-12 begin on Tuesday, August 26th, and our Preschool and Kindergarten students return on Tuesday, September 2nd. Please note that school will be closed for Labor Day weekend on Friday, August 29th, and Monday, September 1st. Many of us will also be taking part in the Spencer Fair throughout the holiday weekend. Please stop by the David Prouty Booth and the Music Boosters Dunk Tank, as well as the many local vendors and activities. Our students are an active part of this annual holiday tradition in our local community, so please take a moment to stop by and say hello!
The start of the school year promises a new beginning, filled with numerous opportunities for everyone as we move forward. From the classroom to extracurricular activities, I encourage every one of our students to get involved and take advantage of the many offerings available throughout our regional school district. There is something for everyone: clubs, sports, music, and the performing arts. Take a risk, get involved, and make the most of the year ahead!
Again, regular school attendance is critical to student success, not just academically, but for social/ emotional health, as well. Excessive school absences not only cause students to fall behind academically but can also cause anxiety issues when returning to school, due to missed lessons and make-up work. In addition, peer relationships can be negatively impacted.
School Year Calendar: The Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District 2025-2026 School Year Calendar is available on our website. However, I also wanted to include it in this monthly Superintendent Welcome Back 2025-2026 Message - to emphasize the importance of daily, regular school attendance. It is hard to learn if you are not part of the daily ebb and flow of life in our learning community. Plan, Show Up, and Achieve #GoPanthers #AttendanceMatters
Secondly, the 2025-2026 Bus Routes and Bus Rules are on our website. Click either hyperlink to find your child's route and bus information, as well as to better understand the rules for riding our buses safely.
Meal Menus: Once again, thanks to our dedicated state legislators, the Commonwealth provides Universal Free Meals to all students throughout Massachusetts, serving every student every day of the year with a hearty and nutritious breakfast and lunch at no cost to you as a parent/family. Meal Menus are updated monthly.
