SPENCER, MA — The Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District is aware of the serious, violent incident involving an active shooting in the town of Spencer on the afternoon and evening of Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

As of this morning, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, there is no known direct impact on any member of our school community, nor is there a standing threat to our school buildings. The district is proceeding with the school day as scheduled, with safety remaining our top priority.

We commend the swift and professional actions of local, regional, and state law enforcement for containing and addressing this incident last evening. We are grateful for their efforts to protect our community.

We recognize that this traumatic event may cause stress and concern within our close-knit community. We encourage everyone to rely on verified information and official law enforcement sources, rather than social media speculation.

Counseling staff and administration are available to any student or staff member who needs support.
