Leading Lines Photography Project
For this project, students in Ms. Battles' Photography class explored the concept of leading lines in photography, learning how lines can guide a viewer’s eye through an image. They captured original photos that demonstrated this technique and enhanced their work through digital editing to create strong, finished compositions.
DPHS Marching Band Visits The Big E!
On Thursday afternoon, September 18, the David Prouty High School Marching Band graced the streets of The Big E! The Eastern States Exposition runs through the end of the month in Springfield.
Hiking Class Explores Seasonal Transitions
Even though it feels like summer, the pictures show fall is on its way. The Hiking class has had perfect weather since school began and this week it was time to test the ripening cranberries and of course, we have to hike to them first. This group of students made friends with the nearby swamps, some more gracious than others, and we threw in a photo contest in the mix as well.
September is Attendance Awareness Month! Now is the time to develop good, healthy habits and regular attendance is among the most important things to focus on!

**NEW this week!** DPHS 9th Graders have completed their first rotation of Exploratory at David Prouty High School! To wrap up their experience, students were asked to complete a Reflection assignment during their last class this past Monday. The purpose of this activity is to give them a chance to consider their interest in pursuing further coursework in either Early Education, Criminal Justice, Environmental Science, or Marketing after spending time in their initial rotation.
Students were asked about the strengths they exhibited as students to support the CTE goal of encouraging good habits of work and employability skills. Conversations you can have at home that support your child's consideration about their goals, interests, skills, and hobbies, and how that may influence their choice in a program for Quarter 2, are greatly appreciated!
Freshmen: Learn MORE about your CTE Choices!
During their second rotation, 9th Graders will continue to begin to get a sense of what the different CTE programs at DPHS entail. We want to provide more information about where each could lead. Click on the thumbnail (above) to access a folder that contains flyers about study in our four popular, real-world relevant study pathways!
David Prouty High School has a diverse set of Career and Technical Education programs in in Criminal Justice, Early Education and Care (Early Childhood Education), Environmental Science, or Marketing ON SITE designed to put students in the driver's seat for their futures with four relevant, high-demand options for career training and real-world experience.
At DPHS, students get intensive programming in their chosen field, with capstone projects and internship opportunities with outside organizations directly using their training without leaving their friends or David Prouty High School!
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to building administration, guidance, or the CTE faculty.

💊 Medications at School: All medications (prescription and over-the-counter) must be brought to the Health Office by a parent/guardian along with a physician’s order. NEW this week! 👉 Health Tips: Did you know?
September is National Fruits & Veggies - More Matters Month! According to the MyPlate website, girls 14-18 years should aim to consume 1.5 to 2 cups of fruit and 2.5 to 3 cups of vegetables daily. Boys 14-18 years should aim for 2-2.5 cups of fruit and 2.5-4 cups of vegetables daily.
Research indicates that consuming a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables is associated with a reduced risk of many chronic diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, and certain types of cancer. Adding more colorful produce to your meals can boost energy, support focus in class, and strengthen your immune system!
Please call or email the nurse with any questions or concerns!
