Superintendent of Schools Dr. Haughey is pleased to announce, Mrs. Christine Lavin, New Principal of East Brookfield Elementary School for SY 2024-2025!
EAST BROOKFIELD, MA – March 13, 2024 - With the recent announcement that Mr. Ron Tomlin has decided to retire, I am pleased to announce that Mrs. Christine Lavin was identified and agreed to assume the Principal role and responsibilities at East Brookfield Elementary effective July 1, 2024.
Mrs. Lavin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Geography; a Master of Education degree in Elementary Education; and a Master of School Administration – Principal/Assistant Principal honors from Worcester State University. She has taught for almost 25 years at both the Lashaway and East Brookfield Elementary Schools in the community; and has been a dedicated employee of the Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District throughout her tenure serving on numerous sub-committees, committees, and boards.
“What has impressed me most about Mrs. Lavin is the fact that she has never backed away from any opportunity to learn and lead! Mrs. Lavin has demonstrated time and again that she is a continuous learner and someone who models for others what we want to see in our learning community; a professional who is respectful, responsible and always ready to go the extra mile for staff and students,” said Superintendent of Schools, Paul Haughey. “Moreover, she has always been a reflective practitioner who puts others, especially her students, first!” he added.
East Brookfield Elementary School is well positioned to take the next steps in becoming one of the top elementary schools in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. “Mrs. Lavin and the team at East Brookfield Elementary School continues to have my every confidence in the fact that she and they will always look to learn, lead and model well for others, especially the students,” said Superintendent Haughey.
Christine has been a very familiar face in the community-at-large and at East Brookfield Elementary School over her tenure with the Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District. She plans to button up any open items with the her students at the end of this school year and will officially begin her new role on July 1st, 2024. “Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Lavin on becoming the next Principal for East Brookfield Elementary School this summer.”
