Spencer, MA – December 16, 2025 – A sprinkler main line burst on the second floor of David Prouty High School today at approximately 12:30 p.m., causing water damage to the second and main floors of the building.

Emergency personnel, including the local police and fire departments, responded immediately to assist with the orderly and safe evacuation and dismissal of all students, supported by our transportation vendor, AA Transportation.

Following the dismissal, school district personnel, Colliers, Fontaine Brothers, and local safety officials worked collaboratively to assess the damage, determine the cause, and initiate cleanup efforts.

Due to the damage and ongoing repairs, David Prouty High School will be closed tomorrow, December 17th, 2025. No access to the facility will be permitted while cleanup crews work to restore the property.

An update regarding the school's reopening will be provided once all repairs are complete and local safety officials have cleared the facility for occupancy.
