WORCESTER, MA - It's time to recognize another Telegram & Gazette Student of the Week.
There are three strong nominees this week.
The T&G asked high school principals, teachers, and guidance counselors to nominate students they say have shown outstanding school achievement and community service.

Kylie Hoyt, David Prouty High School: Kylie Hoyt, a sophomore, has shown exceptional dedication to both her academics and extracurricular activities. Throughout her freshman and sophomore years, she has consistently earned high honors while staying actively involved in school life. As a freshman, Kylie served as cheer captain and maintained at least a 3.5 GPA. This year, she continues to excel academically while taking five honors classes, participating in the Peer Mentoring Program, and serving on Student Council. Kylie was also selected as the 2025–2026 MIAA Student Ambassador for the sophomore class. She has volunteered at the school’s new building open house and plans to continue contributing to community service throughout the year. Additionally, Kylie is a proud member of the varsity cheer team.
Melody McKinney, Burncoat High School: Melody, a junior, has shown particular dedication in her Legal Aspects class. She consistently offers up her thoughts, opinions, and suggestions, initiates and completes her work within designated timelines, and checks in with me when she needs clarification or just to see if she is keeping on track with her assignments. Even through difficult times, Melody consistently advocates for herself and works hard. I'm so proud of Melody for consistently showing up and trying her best, even when the going gets tough!
Jose Hernandez Rodriguez, Burncoat High School: Jose, a junior, has become an essential member of the Burncoat community. Whether he is working on improving academically as part of our Hanover and Dual Language programs, taking on a lead role in a drama production, or designing fundraisers and events to support our community members, Jose always shows up with a genuine desire to do his best and leave a positive impact on those around him.
