Dear Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District Community,
As we look back on the 2025–2026 school year, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for what our students, educators, families, and community partners have accomplished together. This year, our district truly lived up to our guiding mission of "Teaching and Learning with Purpose," showcasing remarkable resilience, academic dedication, and a shared commitment to excellence.
We have so much to celebrate across all of our schools—from the foundational milestones at East Brookfield Elementary School and Wire Village School, to the expanding horizons at Knox Trail Middle School and David Prouty High School.
Here are just a few of the many highlights and achievements that defined our district over the past year:
Academic & Student Honors
The Class of 2026: We proudly celebrated our seniors at the David Prouty High School commencement. This exceptional cohort included multiple John and Abigail Adams Scholars, reflecting the high standard of academic excellence maintained by our students.
Student Leadership Recognition: Our students consistently made headlines for their civic contributions and leadership. Outstanding individual honors included students recognized as the Telegram & Gazette Student of the Week and 8th-grade leaders honored for their dedication to service learning and Project 351.
Rising Enrollment: Families continue to choose our schools. Our student body steadily grew this year, surpassing 1,480 enrolled students across the district.
Arts, Music, & Athletics
A Historic Musical Milestone: The Knox Trail Middle School Concert Band achieved an extraordinary feat by earning its fourth consecutive Gold Medal
at the prestigious
Great East Music Festival
!
Creative Showcases:
Our district hosted vibrant community events, including the
District Art Show & Senior Showcase
and regional concert appearances, giving our student artists a platform to shine.
Inclusive Excellence: We highlighted unity and school spirit through community-driven initiatives like the
SEBRSD Unified Olympics
and the
Unified Basketball Jamboree
, celebrating every student's unique abilities.
Capital & Sustainability Upgrades
Modernized Learning Environments: Progress on our MSBA Module 7 Construction Project took major strides forward. The public open houses allowed our community to see firsthand the incredible new construction and renovations shaping the future of David Prouty High School.
Environmental Excellence: Reflecting our commitment to a sustainable future, the district was proudly recognized by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Green Ribbon District.
Looking Forward With Gratitude
None of these achievements would be possible without the unwavering support of our local families, our dedicated School Committee, and the towns of Spencer and East Brookfield. Your presence at our events, your volunteer hours, and your everyday encouragement provide the foundation upon which our district thrives.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for making the 2025–2026 school year an unforgettable chapter of growth, belonging, and pride.
Sincerely yours,
Paul S. Haughey, Ed.D.
